The Henries Awards 2013
The Henries are the ultimate awards in the greeting card publishing industry within the UK. An amazing 15,000 cards are entered hoping for the chance to become a finalist and a winner in one of the categories. The awards are named after Sir Henry Cole who introduced the first commercially produced Christmas card over 160 years ago! The Henries were introduced by The Progressive Greetings Worldwide magazine in 1996 as an annual award to recognise the greeting card ranges. There are many categories which include, promising new designer, best contemporary range, best male range and more!
The Henries Awards 2013 have been judged by a panel made up of top retail buyers from across the board and the finalists have been announced. We are so pleased to see that some of our greeting card designers have been selected as finalists and Card Crush wish them the best of luck for the results which will be announced on 10th October 2013 at The Lancaster London Hotel.
The criteria for judging were quality of design, quality of manufacture, appropriateness for the market sector and value for money.
Let me introduce some of the finalists you may see on our website this year:
So many gorgeous designs and each card is hand finished with beautiful crystals and gems which make these cards stand out from the rest.
We have a great range of the Give a Hoot occasion cards, full of modern designs featuring graphic owl designs and eclectic patterns.
Best Handmade Or Hand Finished Range – Stop The Clock
Best Humorous Card Range – Drama Queen by Cardmix
Our collection of Drama Queen cards will shortly be added to the website! Great clean humour.
Best Male Range – Allihopa
A great masculine range, we feature some of these greetings cards on our website and they are great for Dads on birthdays and Father’s day.
Best Spring Seasons Range – Fay’s Studio & Megan Claire
Have you seen our selection taken from the Sentiments range?
I also look forward to seeing future ranges by designers in the most Promising Young Designer Or Artist category. I already like designs by Jessica Hogarth and Hotchpotch Publishing.
Good luck everyone and I can’t wait until 10 October to see who the winners are.
